about us

Passionate about the environment and law, Janice has a genuine concern
for the well-being of other people, especially the vulnerable and disadvantaged.
Her background is in ecology and environmental science, she worked as an environmental consultant and assessment practitioner for many years,
and then pursued a career in law, specifically environmental law.

Janice is particularly skilled in the legal aspects of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process and all things to do with environmental licensing, compliance and administrative action. She believes that, for the most part, South Africa has good environmental policy and law in place, but that it is our practice rather than our legislation that we need to focus on and improve. In order to achieve just and effective environmental solutions, people first need to be educated about their environmental rights and duties. In addition to practising law, Janice is an experienced trainer and speaker.

Janice has an MSc.Env Science (cum laude) degree and an LLB
(cum laude) degree.
